MORE PEOPLE ROBBED WHEN USING FACEBOOK AND TWITTER

An insurance company from the United Kingdom created a report showing more people are robbed when using Facebook and/or Twitter. The report - prepared by Legal & General with the help of reformed burglar Michael Fraser - found that 38 percent of users of sites such as Facebook and Twitter have posted status updates detailing their holiday plans, and a third have posted updates saying that they are away for the weekend. cited Social media users invite burglars in

Expert burglars are tracking people on Twitter and Facebook to rob them. Thousands of people tell other people on these social media networks their most inner secrets such as when they will be away on vacation and their exact whereabouts. This gives enough information to burglars to rob their house when they are not home. The article stated that over 60% of people 16-24 years old share their holiday plans using social media. That is a scary number to me. Their are times when people give out their exact address on their personl page. We are making it more easier for criminals to do their job. Welcome to the other side of social media.

Reformed burglar Michael Fraser said: "I call it ‘internet shopping for burglars'. It is incredibly easy to use social networking sites to target people, and then scope out more information on their actual home using other internet sites like Google Street View, all from the comfort of the sofa. cited Social media users invite burglars in

Harry,

This is a messed up deal. Can we dole out a stiffer sentence for criminals who use technology in crime? Anyhow, I always update on FB after we get home from the vacation. No point in giving someone ammunition.

We all have to be heads up on social networks.

Suam take your time and learn one before you go to the next. First, you must be a great salesperson then continue to blog. Keep putting one foot forward. We will all get there.

Harry:  It's important for people to remember that what you post on the internet is being read by who knows who and that's why one should always be aware of the perils of posting too much personal info.  There's always someone out there ready to do harm and try to profit at the expense of others, particularly the innocent.  Protect yourselves.
