COST OF FREEDOM

We are about to embark on July 4th. We associate July 4th with family, BBQs, fun, and fireworks to end the night. However, there is another meaning behind this day that many of us forget about. July 4th has been traditionally thought of as a celebration of our independence from an oppressive government. We might still be under British rule if we did not fight for our rights.

The vote for the United States to become independent of Great Britain actually occurred on July 2, 1776 by the Continental Congress in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Congress formally approved the document, the "Declaration of Independence" on July 4, 1776. This declaration was the final break with Great Britain and expressed the united view of all of the colonies to become independent. cited http://ezinearticles.com/?Celebrate-the-4th-of-July-Holiday-with-Meaning&id=1095669

COST OF FREEDOM

The Cost of Freedom are the actions made by of all those who have given of themselves to defend freedom. The many Veterans who have fought and all too often died throughout the history of our country so that the rest of us might live in peace. We have many proud soldies here and around the World defending our freedom to make it a better and safer place for people to live. Many of us take our freedoms for granted in this country. We forget the many lives that have been sacrificed for us.

Please enjoy July 4th and remember the true meaning behind it. Please share the true American history with your kids so that they know the real American history behind the American Flag.

REMEMBER THE TRUE COST OF FREEDOM!

I have mixed feelings about these days.

Part of me really feels appreciative and sad that so many people have given their lives for our freedom.  And I cannot begin to express how grateful and indebted I feel to them.

But another part of me resents how greedy corporate heads and greedy, corrupt politicians have trampled all over that and put us in a position that taken for granted what those people have done for us and gave to us.

Ralph-I totally agree with you. I tend to think about the first part of your post-people lost their lives for our freedom today. Focus on you and the people around you.

Thanks Harry - Let's not forget the Heroes that are still with us.  The men and women that are serving our country today.  We owe them our gratitude and support.  This weekend make sure you shake a heroes hand and say thanks.
