RAINMAKERS GET PHONE CALLS FROM TELEMARKETERS

Go to fullsize image IT IS ONLY $2,500 ALL DAY LONG! NO PROBLEM!

How many phone calls do you receive on a weekly basis from people trying to sell us something? I honestly recceive about four phone calls per week. Where do they obtain our information? Well, they get our information for social media web sites such as Activerain and Facebook to name a couple out there. Companies use these web sites for farming purposes. They stick a person making $10 per hour to call people like us to see if we want to purchase X. Do you like receiving these calls? What do you say when they call you?

Realtors spend a lot of money on useless marketing. We are all trying to find something that works in this market. How many people would agree with this statement? Here is my advice to you.

  1. Develop a niche in your local market
  2. Create a one stop for real estate investing with Network of professionals
  3. Each network professional refers each other's services within the group
  4. Stay consistent with your brand message
  5. Network Network Network
  6. Create a database to send out monthly newsletters, hot properties, and invites to workshops
  7. Follow up with past customers
  8. Send thank you notes
  9. Attend workshop on real estate and network with other realtors
  10. Blog on Activerain and meet great people around America

My most recent phone call was from a lady stating that she was from a relocation company. She left a message on my phone. So, I called her back within ten minutes. I started a  conversation with her thinking that she worked for a relocation professional searching for a Realtor who specializes in the Phoenix, AZ market. My New Yorker sense came out and realized she was trying to sell me a product. I asked her in a stern voice if she was looking for a Realtor for relocation services or that she was selling me a product. She was trying to sell me the rights to a web site that assisted people in relocating. The price tag was only $2,500. Then, she insults me on the phone when I said no thanks to her offer. She asks me, "Is money a problem?" I asked her the same question since she was trying to sell me. People do follow the rain. So, you better buy your umbrella for protection.

IT IS ONLY $2,500

Harry,

The most anoying thing to me is when a telemarketer calls on my cell or 800 number, because then I have to pay for the call besides putting up with them.

We used to have fun in my office with telemarketers.  My staff had a game to see who could keep a telemarketer on hold the longest. If I remember correctly, the longest was over 30 minutes.  They would say, "I know the broker would love to talk to you if you can just hold on a little longer" and similar comments.  Needless to say, we didn't get many repeat calls from those companies.

I also think that some of the lead generator programs are trying to convert us from face to face realtors into telemarketers. I have tried some of these different lead prospect websites and the people never know where you get their contact information and they think you are selling something.

It gets so old having your voice mail full of telemarketing calls and other people trying to sell stuff. I hate having my time and phone line clogged up with this junk. Technology has come so far, if I need to buy something I will look it up, I don't need it looking me up!!!

When they call me, it also costs them.  I know they're calling on my 800# so I just lay the phone on the floor for a few minutes.

They can't disconnect for several minutes.  I can picture them in a state of total frustration trying to disconnect.

The Devil makes me do it.

Lenn that is terrible, they have to make a living too. HAHA, I just listen (because I do telemarketing of sorts, expireds, fsbos etc) but if I am not interested I say so and if they get annoying (that is the part I hate) I just hang up.

A person can work or go on welfare and let my tax dollars support them. Which do you prefer.

Hi Harry,  You know what ?  Being a salesperson I really enjoy speaking with a skilled rep.  Most of the calls I get are from total idiots working  from lousy scripts.

All great points when it comes to telemarketing. I listen myself because I am a salesperson. Have to respect the trades. I love when they try to close you on the first call. I have learned a couple techniques from them.

I guess you could consider me one of those "idiots", but I perfer trying to build some type of relationship and increase my referral channel off of the Realtors, etc, that I successfully do business with.  But even in my position, I still get calls from the script readers and newbies in the business...YOU ARE NOT ALONE! :-)

I am somewhat new to the Activerain scene, and I love reading about what everyone has to say....if anyone wants to shoot the $hit with me, just give me a hollar!
