Many more couples are obtaining a divorce for many reasons. People that have reached this level in their marraige just want to get it over quickly. People are not thinking at this time because of anger and stress. It is had to think that divorce means that the marraige is over-FINAL. However, one must still keep track of their finances to live beyond the divorce.

Here are some 6 Tips to save one's credit:

  1. Close all joint accounts NOW
  2. Obtain separate accounts to establish credit in your name only
  3. Pay all debts before final divorce decree or establish who is responsible for which debt in the divorce decree. All bills must be paid
  4. Stop all accounts during divorce proceedings
  5. Contact all creditors to inform them of the divorce so they update the records
  6. Review all documents with a trusted Certified Financial Planner and Certified Public Accountant to obtain the best advice during this time
