The employees were informed that they will be receiving bonuses bigger than they have ever received in the history of the company in 140 years. Currently, they have well over 28,000 employees. The lack of competition in the industry and continue trading on the floor has created a huge amount of profits. It is estimated that well over $13 billion has gone directly to Goldman Sachs. Plus, they are saving hundreds of million dollars in interest payments backed by FDIC. All of these components add to the bottom line at Goldman Sachs to make them look better. Plus, the Federal Government eliminates the competition such as Lehman Brothers.
