I was just discussing how people give and take in a new relationship whether it is boyfriend and girlfriend or Realtor and mortgage professional. Who will take more? Who will give more? I learned a very important lesson early in my corporate management training. I learned to give more than I received when managing people. Why? I learned that it is truly better to give than receive. I had no problem asking for favors from people because I had earned their trust.
Well, I have taken this same philosophy into real estate. I come across people every week that only want to take and take and take. No! That is not acceptable to me at this point in my career. I believe in a two way street. How many of us developed a relationship with a mortgage professional early in our careers to only get one or two leads over a period of time? I did! I learned quickly that real estate is a referral game. One needs to create many different kind of networks to obtain referrals from several different places. I will never go back to the beginning when it comes to real estate. However, I continue to learn more as each year I am in the real estate profession.
Finally, my role in the company is to be the Rainmaker. I am great at creating relationships on a long term basis. Why? I believe because I am honest and straight forward with people. Plus, I am 100% faithful with my fellow network members. I have generated a referral machine that helps everyone in the Network.
Please share your experiences with AR when it comes to one way streets. What have your learned at this point in your career?
