CONSUMER CONFIDENCE CONTINUES TO DROP

BIG BROTHER NOT WORKING OUT AS PLANNED?

The key to getting out of this recession will be consumer spending. People are not feeling confident about the economy when unemployment rate is at 10%. The American people are afraid of losing their jobs so they are saving for a rainy day like grandma recommended. It is hard to get a job when one is unemployed based upon my experience. What are we to do? This is one of the main reasons why many Americans are not jumping into the real estate market based upon the fear of losing their job. Furthermore, employers are keeping people on the job by reducing their weekly check. They are thankful of having a job. However, they just lost 10-20% spending power by the reduction of their pay.

"There's a lot of concern about job losses, and people think they won't be able to earn more," said Jonathan Basile, an economist at Credit Suisse Holdings Inc. in New York. "Until the employment picture clears up, we can't anticipate persistent gains in consumer spending." cited: http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601068&sid=aV3l4MNlohIs

This person just bottom lined what many people are thinking at this time. It will not be up to the Government to supply the jobs. It will be up to the small business owner creating those jobs. Many small business owners continue to shut down due to Government regulations on them and being taxed too high. One cannot get blood from a rock.
